As many of you may already know, the COVID-19 pandemic has had many consequences on our community, including the cancellation of school. Due to the risks of a large gathering of students, MSO has decided to cancel the 2020 Maryland State Tournament, and the National Science Olympiad Committee has similarly canceled the 2020 National Tournament at North Carolina State University. With these cancellations comes the end of our 2019 - 2020 season. While we’re sorrowful to see this fantastic season end so abruptly, by no means should this discourage you.
Recalling physics, momentum is always conserved in collisions. The National Committee has announced that the 2020 event rules will be replayed for the 2021 competition - the details of this statement are unclear, but you can expect to see the same events next year. We strongly encourage you to keep studying to maintain this year’s unprecedented dominance.
Looking to the immediate future of our club, though there will not be further competing this school year, we encourage all of you to remain active in the STEM community. Please continue to recruit your friends to Science Olympiad so we can ensure the further growth and success of this club for the many years to follow.
